My Ph.D. student, Shampa Chakraverty, presented a paper entitled "
A Stochastic Framework for Co-synthesis of Real Time System" at the LCTES
2000 conference held in Vancouver, Canada in June, 2000. Congratulations!

On April 23, 2000, Rohit Sharma, a former M.Tech (Computer Technology)
student, will marryRashmi Goswami, a former M.Tech (VDTT) student of the
same year. Congratulations to both of you!
-
Shampa Chakraverty, my Ph.D. student, presented a paper on Genetic Algorithm
for Synthesis of Real-time Systems at the National Seminar on Applied Systems
Engineering and Soft Computing (SASESC 2000), Agra. Congratulations!
-
Vineet Sahula, my Ph.D. student, presented a paper on Yield-oriented
Design Planning for Multichip Modules at EMIT 2000 which will take place
in Feb 2000. Congratulations!

Vivek Shanbhogue and N.V. Balaji, my M.Tech students, had papers in the
National Conference on Communications (Jan 2000). Congratulations to both

Two of the three B.Tech projects that I guided in 1998-1999 academic year
have been shortlisted for the "Best B.Tech Project" award. These
are (1) Design of WDM Topologies for Delay-bound multicasting" by Meeta
Sharma and Prachi Jain, and (2) "Test Issues in Core-based Systems" by
Gaurav Chandra and Ashutosh Verma. Good show, girls and boys! A paper
based on Gaurav & Ashutosh's work has been accepted for presentation
at ATS99 and a paper based on Meeta & Prachi's work has been accepted
for presentation at HiPC99. Prachi presented
the paper, and she tells me she got a terrific response from the audience.
Papers based on Gaurav & Ashutosh's project work and Saurav and Pratyush
Kamal's project work have been accepted in VLSI Design 2000. Gaurav
attended the conference and presented both these papers. Gaurav aliased
for Saurav fairly easily, since there is only a one-bit change in their
names. And Gaurav tells me he set the audience on fire with his presentations!
Addendum:
Gaurav and Ashutosh won the Rajeev Bambawale award!

G.Manimaran, a former M.Tech student who worked with me towards his M.Tech
projects, has now become a faculty in Iowa State University. Congratulations,
Dr. Manimaran! Manimaran has published several papers along with me.
This includes a paper in ICPP, which reported work from his M.Tech minor
project, and a paper in SPDP (Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing),
which reported work from his Major Project. The latter has drawn
a lot of attention and I have received several requests for literature.

Rohit Sharma, my former M.Tech student (C.Tech), presented a paper based
on his M.Tech dissertation at the Great Lakes VLSI Symposium (Michigan)
held in March 1999. Rohit is currently working at Texas Instruments, India.

N. Satyaprasad, a former M.Tech (IEC) student got married recently. Congratulations,
Satya! A paper based on Satya's M.Tech dissertation was accepted at the
Asia Test Symposium (ATS) held at Singapore, November 1998. I presented
the paper. The Singapore trip was enjoyable.

A paper based on the B.Tech thesis of Manish Sharma (1997 batch) was presented
at VLSI Design Conference, 1999 held in Goa. Need I say that the
Goa trip was fun? In the same conference, I also presented a second paper
based on the M.Tech thesis of Ajay Mittal (1995 graduate).
